Hoopla service access is ending effective 11/1/25.
Hoopla operates on a “pay-per-use” model, and while this offers flexibility, it also means a cost for each item checked out is incurred by the library providing the service. This means that the more patrons who used Hoopla, the more expensive it became for us. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding needed to sustain this service, the Wayne Library Alliance, in coordination with the Northeast Library District, made the difficult decision to end access to Hoopla. This decision does not affect Overdrive’s Libby, which is still available for patrons to use with their library card. Please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns via email at [email protected], or phone 1-888-799-5243 Media inquires should be directed to Scott Thomas at 570-348-3000. |
To prepare for the end of Hoopla, if you need a list of the titles you’ve checked out, you will need to either write down the titles or take a screenshot of the items in your hoopla history. Because of Pennsylvania patron privacy laws, libraries do not have access to this information. You can Find your checkout history by going to the hoopla app; select “My hoopla”; select “History”; write down or take a screenshot of the information.
If there are titles from Hoopla that you would like to see in Libby that aren’t available currently, please use the Notify Me option within Libby to tell us about eBooks, eAudiobooks, and comics not in the Library. If the item is purchased, the system will automatically add you to the item's hold list.
