Proposed cuts to state library funding now range from 12% to 50% for fiscal 2009-2010. This at a time when library usage is increasing. If you are willing to write your state legislator in support of maintaining current funding and services, please click http://www.legis.state.pa.us/ and type your home zipcode in the box in the top right corner. You will get links to your senator and representative. Email, call, or write what libraries mean to you in this economy. Or copy these two reasons to freeze library funding at current levels and send to your legislator:
1. Libraries are busier than ever serving the unemployed, their families, and others in need. Don't cut funding and force libraries to cut hours and services when they are needed most.
2.  Less state funding means that Pennsylvania will lose federal funds for shared resources such as Summer Reading programs. Freeze library funding so we keep our federal funding too.

Summer Reading Club has begun--or will begin soon--at your local library. Call for a schedule of exciting events for children, teens--and adults, too! Check with your local library to see if they are accepting online registrations.
