Bethany Library launched springtime rocketry club

Bethany Public Library is hosting a six-week, after-school Rocketry Club for fifth through eighth graders on consecutive Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5 p.m., beginning March 29 at the library, located at 8 Court Street, just off Route 670 in Bethany Borough.

Students, under the guidance of Warren Heinly, a retired teacher in the Wayne Highlands School District, are constructing their rockets from kits, painting them creatively in each person’s own chosen pattern, and on the final day of the rocketry series launching them together on May 3. Each rocket will be able to be launched twice.

There was no charge to students, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Honesdale Rotary Club, which is underwriting the cost of supplies.

For more information, contact Warren or Janet Heinly at 570/253-5573.

"A library outranks any one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never-failing spring in the desert." ~ Andrew Carnegie

Your gift will help the library serve its community in essential ways--through reading, technology, programs and comfortable space for all ages. There are also many ways to give--as a donor, as a volunteer, and in the form of a planned gift for the future. We thank you for your generosity and support!
