Bethany Library launches springtime rocketry club

Bethany Public Library will host a six-week, after-school Rocketry Club for fifth through eighth graders on consecutive Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5 p.m., beginning March 22 at the library, located at 8 Court Street, just off Route 670 in Bethany Borough.

Students, under the guidance of Warren Heinly, a retired teacher in the Wayne Highlands School District, will construct their rockets from kits, paint them creatively in each person’s own chosen pattern, and on the final day of the rocketry series launch them together on April 26. Each rocket will be able to be launched twice.

The size of the club is limited to 12 students, and reservations will be taken by calling 570/253-4349 on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to leave the student’s name and age, a parent’s name and a reliable evening telephone number. Permission forms signed by parents are required and must be received by March 15.

There will be no charge to students, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Honesdale Rotary Club, which is underwriting the cost of supplies.

For more information, contact Warren or Janet Heinly at 570/253-5573.

"A library outranks any one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never-failing spring in the desert." ~ Andrew Carnegie

Your gift will help the library serve its community in essential ways--through reading, technology, programs and comfortable space for all ages. There are also many ways to give--as a donor, as a volunteer, and in the form of a planned gift for the future. We thank you for your generosity and support!
